Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to stay at Tassia Lodge?
International visitors pay from US$250 per person per night sharing (green season) to US$300 (peak season), full board. Kenyan residents pay from KES 18,000 and Kenyan citizens KES 11,000 per adult per night. A conservancy fee is added per person per night.
What is included in the rate?
All meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) plus soft drinks and drinking water. Conservancy fees, alcohol, cultural visits, game drives, transport and gratuities are extra.
How do I get to Tassia Lodge?
By road, it is about 2.5 to 3 hours from Nanyuki, or about 2 hours from Timau via the Mukogodo Forest road. The last stretch is rough murram, so a 4WD vehicle is essential. You can also charter a flight to Tassia’s private airstrip (0°25’47.0″N, 37°20’20.0″E). Download our directions.
When is the best time to visit?
Tassia is good all year thanks to the waterholes in Lekurruki Conservancy. Wildlife viewing is best in the dry seasons, July to October and January to February, when elephants, zebras, giraffes and all kinds of wildlife gather at the waterhole below the lodge.
What wildlife will I see?
All kinds of wildlife visit the waterhole below the deck almost daily, including elephants, giraffes, Grevy’s and common zebras, elands, greater and lesser kudus, buffaloes, warthogs and a wide variety of birds. Leopards, lions, cheetahs and wild dogs also roam the conservancy.
What activities can we do?
Guided bush walks with our community guides, walks in the Mukogodo Forest and along dry riverbeds, bush breakfasts and dinners, sundowners on the rooftop, cultural visits with the Yaaku community, and plenty of time by the plunge pool watching the waterhole.
Are children welcome?
Yes, from age 5. Because the lodge is open to the wilderness, children under 5 cannot stay. Child rates apply from 5 to 12 years, and children should be closely supervised at all times.
Can we book the whole lodge?
Yes. Exclusive use of all seven rooms starts at KES 350,000 per night, full board, which is perfect for families, groups of friends and small retreats. Message us on WhatsApp for dates.
Is there Wi-Fi and phone signal?
There is Wi-Fi in the main lounge and dining area. Mobile network coverage is not available, so it’s a great chance to switch off.
How do I book and pay?
Use our booking form, email reservations@lekurruki.com, call +254 112 239 705 or message us on WhatsApp. Bookings are confirmed on receipt of 100% payment before your stay.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you cancel within 7 days of arrival, 50% of the booking is retained. Cancellations less than 72 hours before arrival are charged in full. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance, which is a condition of booking.
Is Tassia Lodge safe?
Yes. The lodge has 24-hour security with two armed scouts based on site, guests are escorted to their rooms at night, and the lodge works with the flying doctors service. Check-in is from 11:00 and check-out by 10:00. Pets are not allowed.
